The Edward Experience

The last leg of our Love Your Lake journey is usually the most challenging but also a lot of fun. Somehow we always have to cram a large number of cleanups into a week and a half while dodging bad weather and any other obstacles that might pop up. This year Jessie and I hit the road for an 11 day road trip which included cleanups from Prince Edward County to Kingston.

To start our trip off on the right foot we spent our first night at The Edward Bed and Breakfast in Prince Edward County. Last year we were welcomed by this wonderful family and we couldn't wait to come back again. The owners, Rebecca, Mano, Jessica and Payam, give The Edward a homey feel through their kind gestures, carefully curated atmosphere, and easy conversation.

The Edward sits on 75 acres of trees, trails, and natural beauty. In our short stay we saw a few rabbits hopping around were told to keep our eyes peeled for the deer. This place definitely warrants a stay longer than just one night in order to take in all it has to offer. If you venture off the property there are a adventures to suit any taste. We ventured around in Picton and checked out Wellington Rotary Beach before we went off for a camping trip at Sandbanks Provincial Park. Prince Edward County is also known for its vineyards, art galleries, and lavender farm.

To make things a bit more challenging, Jessie and I eat a plant based diet. Mano was so accommodating, and breakfast was delicious! We had fresh baked bread and scones with jam, homemade granola with almond milk and blueberries, and finished off with crepes and local maple syrup. After breakfast we wandered out to the Egg-ward to visit the resident chickens, the eggs can't get more local than this! There are also a number of gardens that produce veggies that work their magic in The Edward's home cooking.

We are so grateful to have had the chance to stay at The Edward two years in a row. It gives us a chance to relax, take in nature, have some good conversation, and most of all get a great sleep while on our Love Your Lake adventure. If you're looking for a quiet, beautiful get-a-way keep The Edward and Prince Edward County in mind! We're already counting down the days until next year!

We were very happy to have Jessica, Payam, and their niece join us for a Love Your Lake cleanup at Prince Edward Point. A post about the rest of our cleanup journey including the grand finale is on the way!
