    Rochelle Byrne

    FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Rochelle began her environmental journey with a shoreline cleanup in her community, leading her to found A Greener Future in 2014. With eight years of environmental education and experience, Rochelle's commitment to sustainability earned her the 2017 Environment Award from the City of Pickering and a Premiere’s Award Nomination in 2023. Notably, she paddled 430 km across Lake Ontario to raise awareness about plastic pollution, a feat documented in the film "Shoreline: The Paddle Against Plastic."

    Through A Greener Future, Rochelle has spearheaded initiatives like the UNSMOKE Butt Blitz, Love Your Lakes Program, and Litter Art Project, engaging communities nationwide in environmental stewardship. Her contributions to the environmental industry exemplify her dedication to raising awareness, empowering individuals, and advocating for sustainable practices, ultimately shaping a greener future for generations to come.

    Gregory Waclawek

    PROGRAM MANAGER

    Greg is a passionate Environmental Scientist with an MA in Sustainability Studies and a deep commitment to community-based conservation. As A Greener Future’s Program Manager, Greg oversees volunteer engagement, event logistics, and data-driven impact reporting.

    With a diverse background in environmental consulting, municipal planning, and grassroots outreach, Greg brings technical expertise and hands-on experience to his role. He previously worked with A Greener Future as a Program Assistant, where he recruited volunteers, led cleanups, and developed a creative microplastic collection tool, the Nurdle Net.

    Greg serves as Chair of the Oshawa Environmental Advisory Committee, advising city council on local climate and environmental policy. His collaborative approach and systems thinking make him a key driver of our mission to build cleaner, healthier communities.

    Nino Lovell

    COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

    With a Bachelor of Film and TV and multiple film awards to her name, Nino brings a strong foundation in visual storytelling and digital communication to her role as Communications Assistant. With over a decade of experience in photography, videography, editing, and diverse content creation, she crafts compelling messages that foster a greater appreciation for the planet. Driven by the organization’s mission to eliminate waste, Nino is passionate about spreading this message to drive authentic audience growth.

    Recia Thomas

    PROGRAM ASSISTANT

    Recia has been a lifelong nature enthusiast, but later developed her passion for environmental sustainability in university. Her passion for environmental sciences and conservation biology led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Recia has maintained a profound sense of duty to her community, the environment, and future generations, leading her to join A Greener Future. Outside of work, Recia enjoys volunteering with CLOCA's Conservation Area Trail Stewards program and spending time with her pup, Frankie.
